Using your own domain with awe.sm

You may wish to create awe.sm tracking links on your own domain — for example, zyn.ga, or vipli.st.

In addition to branding your links, using your own domain allows you to create very short tracking links, because each domain in awe.sm has its own namespace. (That is, http://awe.sm/xyzhttp://vipli.st/xyzhttp://zyn.ga/xyz … )

RECOMMENDED: USE A DEDICATED DOMAIN

awe.sm recommends purchasing a custom short domain to use with your awe.sm projects. This is easiest to configure, since it doesn't require you to change any DNS settings on the domains you already use. You can find and buy short domains from a service like domai.nr or Namecheap.

USE A DEDICATED SUBDOMAIN

It's also possible to use a subdomain of a domain you already own, for example, a.cowp.co. Configuring this requires editing the DNS zone file for your domain to point this subdomain to awe.sm's servers, which may require assistance from your organization's network administrator or webmaster.

NOT RECOMMENDED: USE YOUR PRIMARY DOMAIN

If you host a website on www.example.com, it is technically possible to run awe.sm on your domain root — i.e., example.com. However, this configuration requires editing the DNS zone file for your domain, making configuration changes to the servers that host the website, and configuring a custom root redirection pattern within awe.sm. If configured incorrectly, this arrangement can disrupt access to your website; it is not recommended. Contact awe.sm support for additional information and assistance.
